Project Ecuador Fundraiser Gala 2014

Image
My family started an amazing organization in 2004 and it has been thriving ever since. Project Ecuador is a charitable organization established to help underprivileged children and underdeveloped schools in Ecuador, Argentina, Guatemala and other countries in central and South America. They offer various programs such as scholarships programs, Communities Organized to Rebuild and Empower (CORE) project, and more.  Check out their website at this link http://www.projectecuador.org/ Every year they host a fundraiser in order to support their wonderful cause. This year I finally had the opportunity to attend their yearly event and contribute one of my paintings for a raffle giveaway. Painting for the Raffle. The winner of the painting! I had an amazing time at the event! :)

Protector of Life

Image
"Protector of Life" This painting was inspired by the fruitful tree that was taken down a few days ago for the purpose of pipeline transit. "We do share common ancestry with all trees I believe. It is a colony of cells that allows us to be emotional and who's to say its not inherent in every living cell"~anonymous It frightens and saddens me that most people are willing to destroy the real world, the living physical world, in order to achieve some goal in the realm of the shared hallucination. Ultimately, what will come to pass will come to pass, and I am but one body, one consciousness roaming this planet. What I am loyal to is the water, the air, and the soil — the fish and the birds and those people around me who I love. ~John Duffy Read his full essay http://guymcpherson.com/ 2011/04/ missing-the-forest-and-the- trees/

Life's Simple Pleasures

Image
Tea is not only known for its health benefits but also for its great taste. There are also Japanese tea ceremonies where tea preparation and presentation are viewed as meditative and as an art form. Drinking tea is one of my favorite things to do. It is an enjoyable experience.  I chose to paint it as a reminder of life's simple pleasures. :) "Peo in a Cup" by Andrea Realpe   https://www.etsy.com/shop/ARealpe?ref=si_shop

Potrait and Peacock Painting

Image
This painting was inspired by Emily Browning and Peacocks. The most fascinating part about this painting is the eyes. I have always been fascinated by painting or drawing eyes. It is ironic since I usually paint figures facing away in most of my oil paintings. I also tend to accentuate the eyes both consciously or unconsciously. Since the eyes are the gate way to the soul, I like to make them prominent. I believe this attribute shows innocence in someone’s character. The wider and larger they are the more innocence is present. Large open eyes show that the soul is open to experience life to the fullest.   If you are a follower of my artwork you may have noticed that I include peacocks on my paintings as well. These lovely birds are also fascinating not only because of their beauty, but because they are a symbol of longevity. Long flowing hair is also prominent in my paintings. I believe it signifies health and youth. Overall I am very satisfied with the turnout of this painting, e

"Destination" Watercolor Painting

Image
It is so very brrrr cold outside. It is about -11 degrees outside, but it feels like -35. These cold temperatures have made me stay in for the past two days. During this cold period, I managed to make use of my time and make this lovely watercolor painting. It is inspired by a photo by Lucia Benetti. The bird silhouettes are my favorite part of this painting. I hope you like it.  Please check out my video for this painting. This painting is also for sale at my Etsy store: https://www.etsy.com/listing/174875212/female-birds-watercolor-painting?ref=shop_home_active
